Marriage Fund

A memorandum of understanding and co-operation was signed at the ADCCI’s premises yesterday’s noon between the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ADCCI) and the Marriage Fund Foundation (MFF). The agreement was signed for the ADCCI by HE Mohammed Rashed Al Hameli, ADCCI Director-General, and for the MFF by HE Rashed Al Kashf, Member of the Fund’s Board of Directors.

Pursuant to the memorandum, the two parties shall enter into a strategic partnership for the purpose of accentuating the importance of mutual similar ones between UAE organizations in the field of supporting social development, particularly the family structure. It is also a down-to-earth translation of the two sides’ awareness of and belief in the significance of the UAE family and its role in building and developing the society besides the imperative co-operation on the part of all competent institutions as regards providing socio-financial and technical support required for grooming young people willing to tie the knot, removing difficulties faced by them and making available means and ways for building a secure, safe family.

The ADCCI-MFF memorandum covers a number of cooperation fields, including the provision of financial resources needed for backing up activities and programmes concerned with establishing concepts of family building and cohesion in the UAE community via group wedding parties; encouraging owners of private businesses and merchants to chip in alleviating the burden shouldered by the low-income young people; along with organizing programmes and activities aiming at disseminating and enhancing a culture of the private sector’s social responsibility by means of professional conferences, seminars, workshops and symposiums. Moreover, it has been agreed by the two parties that a competition on “Ideal Husband and Perfect Wife” be organized.
Following the signature of the memorandum, HE Rashed Al Kashf said that: “This memorandum comes in conformity with the directives of HE Dr. Maithaa Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State and MF’s Board Chairperson, aiming at setting up a societal partnership that is strategic in nature between the MFF and all federal and local ministries and organizations in a manner that would respond to the requirements of the objectives related to the strategies of both the Federal and Abu Dhabi’s Governments.”

For his own part, HE Mohammed Rashed Al Hameli, ADCCI Director-General, voiced his appreciation for cooperating with the MFF in confronting the challenges encountered by the UAE family and chiefly by both young people who are about to get married and those who have recently tied the knot and are starting their lives amidst socio-cultural variables entailing collaborative efforts and integrated activities for providing all that which would encourage and enable young people to build families capable of making contributions and of adapting to the changing reality.

Signing this agreement has come as part of the ADCCI’s assumption of its social responsibility, of its role in enlightening member-companies and businesses on the social role expected of them, as well as of supporting organizations and agencies serving all categories of the society and rendering necessary services for them, Mr. Al Hameli stressed, noting that both the ADCCI and the MFF are going to organize a series of seminars and workshops with a view to introduce private-sector’s companies and firms to the MFF’s role, services provided and activities organized by it in the service of UAE citizens benefiting from its services and consultancy.
The ADCCI-MFF Memorandum of Understanding has stipulated that the two parties shall co-operate in the field of training and activities associated with holding group wedding parties, of encouraging owners of private-sector companies and merchants to take part in attenuating the burdens shouldered by the law-income young people and in helping them build unshakable stable families, of organizing programmes and activities aiming at spreading and boosting the private sector’s culture of social responsibility through conferences, seminars and meetings with the ADCCI members in a way that would bolster potential back-up and sponsorship of the MFF’s marketing and media campaigns, as well as of organizing academic conferences and professional workshops and seminars focusing on discussing and reviewing modern trends regarding the link between the development of the private sector and social capital in the UAE community. Add to this, co-operating in organizing an “Ideal Husband and Perfect Wife” competition, together with exchanging knowledge, expertise, statistics and publications spanning fields of mutual interest.

By the same token, the agreement has provided for the formation of a bi-lateral joint committee composed of two members from either side and assigned to the development of an action plan encompassing objectives plus methods of relevant implementation and application according to a timetable to be approved by both parties. The said committee shall meet at least twice a year and both parties shall have the right to convene it whenever required for following up activities and developments of the joint action plan. The committee shall also be entitled to seek the assistance of new members on both a permanent and temporary basis. It may as well have the right to review the items of this memorandum, to explore and address other fields of co-operation and coordination, and; accordingly, of reporting its recommendations in this connection to the senior management of both parties so as for the same to be approved in the run-up to signing such recommendations in a rider to the memorandum.

In addition, projects and programmes agreed upon by both parties shall be executed by means of separate ad hoc agreements providing for the objectives of each and every project, the nature of activities and commitments to be assumed by both parties, the financial aspects to be borne by each party, and the legal terms and conditions applicable in the UAE.
